I the Lord do not change. So you, the descendants of Jacob, are not destroyed – Malachi 3:6

If you have been alive for a few years, you likely would have experienced some disappointment. At times people hurt us. Other times, we find ourselves suffering the consequences of other people’s actions. There are times when people turn on us, or betray us, and we are left brokenhearted. Life can seem to work against us sometimes; every turn we take, we are faced with a challenge or heartache or a letdown. It can be easy to get discouraged and feel defeated.

But God is not defeated.  

He never has been and He never will be.

One of the most comforting truths we can grasp is that God does not change. He does not hold a grudge against us when we are unfaithful. God does not betray us. Nor does He turn his back on us or go back on His word. No. The Lord remains faithful. He remains strong and steadfast. And He remains loving. We can always, always depend on the Lord because faithful, consistent, loving and strong is who He is. Hold onto that truth today, because it is what will get us through.

Thank you, Lord, that you do not change. Thank you that You are faithful and we can depend on you to be our comfort and shield. May we ever look to you and find comfort in Your arms. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
