Minute Devotions: Lean on God

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths – Proverbs 3:5-6

In a world that constantly tells us to ‘do what makes you happy’ and to ‘do you,’ it’s more important than ever to lean on God and His Word. We don’t always understand why things happen. We also don’t always understand or know what is really best for us in the long term. We have our dreams and desires, but are they really what is best for us? Are they really God’s will for us?

We may not always know, but God knows.

In every season and situation, God knows what is best. And because He sees the bigger picture and knows what is coming down the line, He is the best one to lead us. In all the decisions we need to make, big or small, God knows best. His wisdom is what we need, so we need to acknowledge Him; we need to seek His Word and the leading of Holy Spirit. By following God’s leading, we can be sure we are on the right path. It may not always be easy. And sometimes, we may not want to do it. But we can be sure that it is the right path that will lead us in the right direction.

Father, thank you that we can lean on You. Thank you that You guide us by Your Holy Spirit and by Your Word. May we seek You in all that we do. Make us a people that follow in obedience. In Jesus’s name, Amen.
