When I am afraid, I put my trust in you. In God, whose word I praise – in God I trust and am not afraid. What can mere mortals do to me? Psalm 56:3-4
It is easy to be overwhelmed by fear. With so much discord and disunity around us, you would be forgiven for feeling discouraged or afraid. I know that I have felt both. But as I read this verse this morning, it was like a balm to my soul. When I am afraid, I put my trust in you. In God I trust and I am not afraid.
No, I am not afraid, because my trust and hope is in God. The One who is in control of all things and is over all things. If He is with me and for me, why should I be afraid of man? Why should the world around me affect me so much? My God is bigger and stronger than any situation, and that is where I will place my trust and hope. In the One that conquered death. Each time I feel discouraged or afraid, I will once again trust in God, because only He can save me.
Father, thank you that you are the Mighty One that saves. Thank you that we can put our trust in you and not be afraid because you are in control of all things. Today, would you please pour out your peace and comfort, that we would be steadfast in our confidence in you. In Jesus’ name, amen.
