Minute Devotions: A time of waiting

Wait for the Lord; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the Lord! – Psalms 27:14

Waiting is one of the hardest things to do. Especially when you are waiting for something you really want; a job, a test result, a prayer answered. While waiting is hard, it is also a necessary part of our life as it builds our resilience and patience. It also builds our faith as it requires a lot of trust in God. It requires us to stop striving to fix or change things and to trust that God has it under control. It requires us to trust that when God promises something, He will fulfil it in due time. And while we may disagree with on God on His timing, especially when we are waiting, when we look back at our life, we can see the sovereignty and goodness and perfect timing of God. Whatever it is you are waiting for today, can I encourage you to keep holding on and don’t give up. He is promised is faithful and He will not forget you.

Lord God, we thank you for your goodness, kindness and faithfulness. We thank you, Lord, that you always fulfil your promises to us and your promises are always yea and amen. Lord, can you grant us your peace in the waiting today, and fix our eyes upwards towards you. Help us to not lose sight of what our hearts desire really is, You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
