Nervous and excited about…a feeling?

It’s Friday night in Boone and I am undecided with what to do with myself. I’m in my room trying to work out what to eat and where I should go; do I want a full meal or do I just want sweets and coffee? Do I want to go explore an unknown place or just go to one of the nearby places? First world problems, I know, but still a valid problem for someone like me who has around 12 meals a day. I’ve loved my time here so far. It’s a world away from Sydney and it’s peaceful and relaxing. … Continue reading Nervous and excited about…a feeling?

The right to remain silent.

Well, it’s been a while since I’ve posted, but I’m happy to report that I’m back! Life has been rather busy lately and I’ve been doing a lot of travel for work (which is a story for another blog), which has made writing a little difficult, but I’ve settled into a grove now and I’ve pulled the laptop back out to do some writing. I’ve spent a lot of time up in the air lately and while I would have used that time in the past to write, the words just didn’t come. So I decided to use it for … Continue reading The right to remain silent.

Cafe Stories – The Boy is in LOVE!!

The other day I found myself with a few hours to kill, so went to one of my regularly frequented cafes, ordered a coffee and sat on one of their lounges to settle back with a book. This cafe has a couple of couches along a wall, some two-three seater and some single seater, so I took a single couch in the corner. I always chose this couch because it’s up against the wall, which means it’s facing into the cafe. And I like that because it allows me to observe people, which is always a good thing. I also … Continue reading Cafe Stories – The Boy is in LOVE!!

Cafe Stories – The Food Fellowship

I caught up with a friend the other night and she was telling me about this Arabic sweet place that was parked in our local area for a few days, so after very minimal deliberation – we don’t need much prompting to eat – we made plans to go there on the Sunday night and have our coffee catch up there. I called another friend on the Saturday afternoon in my excitement and told her all about the food and arranged for her to come with us as well, so the date night was all set. Come Saturday evening (early … Continue reading Cafe Stories – The Food Fellowship

Double Dipping

A few friends and I were catching up at a cafe the other night when my friend started sharing about this boy she had met at a house party. As we’re all single, we get excited when one of us meets someone and we discuss it in much detail. This was no different, so we all attentively listened to her share about this boy and his charms, ‘oohing’ and ‘ahhing’ along with her. The story started out great; he was attractive, attentive and funny. Funny is important because life can be serious and miserable at times, so you need someone … Continue reading Double Dipping

Life, death, and the footprints left behind.

I attended a funeral today, one of many that I’ve been to in my time. Of all the funerals I’ve been to, thankfully, none have been for anyone very close to me, they’ve all been for partners or parents of people I know. But they are never fun. I’m sure we can all agree on the fact that funerals are the opposite of fun. If anything, most funerals are depressing and morbid. But they are a part of life; at some point, everyone attends a funeral for someone they know, some (like myself) attend for people they don’t know, more being … Continue reading Life, death, and the footprints left behind.

Cafe stories.

I’m a coffee drinker. A big coffee drinker. And I like nothing more than going to one of my favourite cafes, ordering a coffee and either reading a book, or doing some writing. It’s something I do most days and it’s very relaxing for me because I’m left on my own with my coffee and my thoughts. However the last few cafe visits have been anything but relaxing because the last few times I’ve been, I’ve found myself sitting next to couples, which is usually fine, but these couples have been fighting, or breaking up. And it’s been awkard for all … Continue reading Cafe stories.
