I will remember the deeds of the Lord; yes, I will remember your wonders of old – Psalm 77:11
It can be so easy to forget all the times that God has bought us out of the battle. It’s never more easy to do so than when we are in the trenches of a battle. When circumstances loom over us and there feels like there is no way to overcome the situation, our hearts find it hard to remember all the wonders of the Lord.
But that is exactly when we need to remember them the most!
When we are in the valley and we are struggling to see hope, it’s then that we need to remind ourselves of what the Lord has done. It is then that our hearts need to be encouraged and reminded of His wonders of old. When it is too dark to see, think back and remember all the times that God has delivered you before. Remember all the times that He held you securely in the palm of his hand while the storm raged. Let your mind think on all the stories in His Word where He delivered his people time and time and time again.
He is the God of victory and peace and provision.
Whatever your circumstances today, whether you are on the mountaintop, or crawling through the valley, can I encourage you to look up and remember! Remember his wonders of old. Remind your heart of the times He has held you and helped you. And remember that He has done it before and He will do it again!
Father, thank you for your faithfulness. You never leave us or abandon us. Thank you for your kindness and the confidence we have that you will never stop loving us or caring for us. We surrender to you, Lord, and rest confidently knowing that you provided for us before and you will do it again. In Jesus’ name, amen.
