“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you” Matthew 7:7

Recently, I went to Fiji with work to do some outreach events. At one of these events, I was walking around with a bag of toys in my hand looking to give it to one of the pastors. At one point, I felt this tug on my pants and looked down to see this little girl tugging on my pants with one hand while pointing at the bag with the other hand. Her mother was reprimanding her and trying to stop her but it made no difference; she just kept tugging away. And it made me smile. This little girl made me smile because she was determined to get the bag and she was going to keep asking for it until she got it. How often do we, as adults, do with God? The bible says that if we ‘ask’ it will be given, yet how often do we relentlessly ask? How often do we tug at the garment of Jesus and ask Him to bless us like He invites us to? We have full permission to ask God for all things, yet we often don’t. Does asking guarantee that we will get what we want? No, not always. But that shouldn’t stop us from asking. Jesus made a way for us not so that we would like a mediocre life or a life of limited joy, He came that we would have life and have it in abundance. And He gives us full permission to tug at Him and ask Him for the things our heart desires. As you go about your day today, may you have the confidence to go boldly to God and ask Him for what you want, because if there is one thing we can be certain of, it’s that our Heavenly Father is waiting for us with open arms, waiting to hear the cry of our hearts.

Lord, thank you that you tore the veil so that we could freely come to Your throne and bring our praises and petitions to you. Thank you for inclining your ear to Your children and for your abundant favour and kindness. Would you give us the innocence of children to come to You without fear or hesitation, knowing that You are always listening and loving us. In Jesus’s name, amen.
