Minute Devotions: Palms of Grace

So they took branches of palm trees and went out to meet him, crying out, “Hosanna! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord, even the King of Israel!” – John 12:13 ESV

Palm Sunday. Around the world, thousands will stop to acknowledge Palm Sunday, the day where Jesus walked straight towards what would be the most painful experience of His earthly life; being tortured and hung on a cross to die. It was the day that Jesus triumphantly returned to Jerusalem to meet His death and was met by cheers of ‘Hosanna, blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord,’ as they cut down branches and leaves and placed them on the floor for Him to walk on. As we draw closer to Good Friday, let’s remember that Palm Sunday was the beginning of grace; of Salvation that could not be bought but that would come at a price, the death of Jesus. Palm Sunday, the beginning of hope and restoration and eternal life.

Lord, we thank you for your abundant, endless and unexplainable love. A love that rendered Heaven and came down to take away our sin and shame by hanging on the Cross for us. Thank you, Lord, for Jesus and the sacrifice on the cross. May we ever cry out, Hosanna in the highest, blessed is He that comes in the name of the Lord. Amen.
