You are my hiding place and my shield; I hope in Your word. Psalm 119:144
One of my favourite games as a child was hide and seek. When it was my turn to hide, I would seek out the best place that I could hide in that also allowed me to see or hear when the seeker was coming. I used to find it really comforting being hidden but still being able to see and hear what was going on; it was as if I was wrapped in an invisible blanket. That’s what its like when we turn to God. In the midst of trials and struggles, running straight into the arms of Jesus is safest place we can go. It doesn’t remove us from the situation, but when we are wrapped in His arms and sheltered by the grace of His wings, it is our safe place. It is our hiding place. It is a safe place that we can find hope in; we can find rest and comfort knowing that Jesus has the victory and no matter what life throws our way, we are victorious because of Saviour.
Lord God, we thank you that we can run to you and be safe in Your arms. We thank you that we can find comfort and shelter in the shadow of Your wings and find hope in Your Word. Would you draw us close, Lord. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
