Tis’ the Season

Christmas is almost upon us. Decorations are going up, carols are playing and Christmas presents are being wrapped and stored under the tree. It is an exciting time of year where we get to stop and fix our eyes on the miracle that is Jesus. It is a time when we can gather together and give thanks for the year that has been; the blessings and joys and highlights that were sprinkled throughout 2017. It is a time when we can sit with our loved ones and enjoy a meal and make new memories to tuck away in the … Continue reading Tis’ the Season

Minute Devotions: He Hears Your Unspoken Prayer

Even before a word is on my tongue, O Lord, you know it completely. – Psalm 139:4 (NRSV) There are times when we can’t find the words to express how we feel. Life can be tough and trying to put into words your heartache can be hard. Often, the hurt or anger is so deep that praying becomes difficult; not only do we not know what to pray, we sometimes can’t pray, as our pain is so deep. When you can’t find the words, know that your heavenly Father can hear your unspoken cries and can hear the whisper of … Continue reading Minute Devotions: He Hears Your Unspoken Prayer

Be Still.

“Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!” Psalm 46:10 Have you ever found yourself frantically rushing around trying to get yourself organised when your ears prick up and you think you can hear someone calling you? You slow your movements down, eventually coming to a complete stop and try to listen as hard as you can. I was in this very situation last night as I went to meet a friend of mine for dinner. She told me to park my car in the parking garage … Continue reading Be Still.

I can’t remember.

I can’t remember… I can’t remember a time when I felt so disconnected and connected to the world. I can’t remember a time where I felt so content yet so restless about my life. A time when every answer to every question raised more questions. I can’t remember a time when I felt so much uncertainty about life yet stood on a rock-solid hope and assurance that my faith would catch me before I hit the ground. I can’t remember a time when my fear and my faith danced so intimately to a beat that I didn’t recognise; where they … Continue reading I can’t remember.

Get your brave on – Faith through my eyes.

When you think of bravery, what comes to mind? Do you imagine a firefighter rushing into a burning building? Or do you see a soldier at war fighting for their country? For the most part, when we think of bravery, we think lifesaving acts; acts of heroism by everyday men and women that restore our faith in humanity and make us feel good. But what about the little acts of bravery that people commit every day? You see, when I think of bravery, what comes to mind is stepping out in faith; facing your fears head on and living … Continue reading Get your brave on – Faith through my eyes.

Don’t step into the fight – Faith through my eyes

I like to consider myself a pretty easy-going person. I am relaxed about a lot of things in life and can take a joke, even when it’s at my expense. I like to enjoy life and I don’t let a lot of things get to me, especially when it’s a difference of opinion because I believe everyone has a right to their own opinion, so I don’t get insecure when someone thinks differently to me or thinks my opinion is wrong. All that combined means I do not get offended easily. Don’t get me wrong, I have taken offence … Continue reading Don’t step into the fight – Faith through my eyes

It’s a matter of choice – faith through my eyes

Decisions, decisions, decisions. Everyday we make multiple decisions about any number of things; what to wear, what to eat, what email to action first. We make so many decisions without really thinking to hard about it, like whether or not you should have a coffee (obviously the answer is always yes) or whether or not we should go online and check Facebook. I lose count of the number of decisions I make on a day-to-day basis without really thinking about them. But what about the decisions that require more than a passing thought? The big life altering decisions, like whether … Continue reading It’s a matter of choice – faith through my eyes

Speak life – Faith through my eyes.

Feelings are interesting little things, aren’t they? They play a huge role in our lives, controlling aspects of our thoughts and actions in ways that we don’t always realise, or want for that matter. For the most part, when making decisions in my life, I try to be objective about it so that I am not making decisions based on how I feel, or how other people may feel. That doesn’t always work and I have found myself at times doing things out of fear that others will have their feelings hurt by my words or actions. Or I find … Continue reading Speak life – Faith through my eyes.

Finding security in insecurity – Faith through my eyes.

I read a quote a little while ago that read, “You will be too much for some people. Those aren’t your people.” It was a quote that stuck with me so I took a screen shot of it and saved it to my phone so that I wouldn’t forget it. It’s a interesting quote and one that I have reflected on lately, especially the last couple of weeks as I have travelled around a lot and met a lot of new people. And can I say, the truth of that quote rally stood out to me as I tried to … Continue reading Finding security in insecurity – Faith through my eyes.

Faith as I see it.

Faith is a funny thing. For the most part, it is a belief in something that the human eye can’t see and the human hand can’t touch. When people talk about faith, for many the only way they can describe it is a feeling deep inside; a belief that runs deep into their soul. They can’t see it, but they can feel it. For many, it’s this feeling that causes many to lift up their eyes to God. For many others, it’s this so-called feeling that has them denying that God even exists because if they can’t see it or … Continue reading Faith as I see it.
