My beautiful mother was diagnosed with an aggressive form of breast cancer mid last year and as a result was told she had to undergo surgery, chemotherapy and radiotherapy. It was a shock to us all, to say the least. As a way of dealing with it, and of helping other people understand what the journey looks like, I decided to blog about it from me perspective: daughter, friend and full-time carer for her. May you see the journey through my eyes and my heart.

Value every moment you have with your Mum, even when she annoys the hell out of you, which can happen from time to time. We all only have one Mum, and we miss them forever when they are gone.
I wish I’d blogged about my Mum, but I don’t think blogs were around at the time. She was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer on 15th December 1998, and died 8 weeks to the day later. There are bits on my blog relating to her: a poem called “Gone” and her epitaph that I wrote within hours of her death.
Take care of your Mum, and of yourself. Best wishes to both.

Thank you for your kind words, Lance. I do my best to cherish every moment I have with her and am very thankful for the recovery she has had becaue as you said, we only have one mum. Beautiful to hear that you have written a poem relating to her ( I will be sure to check it out).

What you are facing is not an easy, I Know first hand as well My Dad had Esophageal cancer (1993). My grandma from Stomach cancer (1989), my Aunt Mary from breast cancer (2012) Last year, my 1st cousin was diagnosed with breast cancer and had a double mastectomy and has been going through Chemo and drugs for the past year now and I keep a Virgin Mary candle lit for her, Stay strong.
