The Lord will fight for you, and you have only to be silent – Exodus 14:14

If there is one thing I have learnt since surrendering my heart to Jesus, it’s that no one can fight for me or defend me as well as God can. The sad reality is that there will always be people that will come against us for one reason or another. Insecurity, envy, bitterness, or fear, just to name a few, will drive people to lash out and make accusations or assumptions about you. People will slander you or reject you. They will see your joy or peace or success and instead of being happy for you, they will be offended by it.

Let them.

God sees what is happening. He sees what is being said about you, the accusations and insinuations. He hears the lies and the whispers behind your back. He sees, He hears, and He will fight for you.

As much as we would like to bite back at every accusation or attempt to steal our joy, our best defence to it is to lift our hands in praise and prayer to God and give it to Him. Allow Him to be God in the situation and watch Him work things for our good and for His glory.

That’s not to say that we tolerate abuse, because we don’t. But we seek God on what to do and when God tells us to be still and let Him be God, we can be confident that He will show His might and His power in our situation.

Whatever you are facing today, can I encourage you to sit in stillness before the Lord and surrender your heart, life, and situation to Him. He loves each of us more than anyone else ever has or ever will, and when we surrender our life and will to Him, He will fight for us in ways we can’t imagine.

Prayer

Lord, you are Holy. You are faithful, and we thank you for Your steadfast love. Thank you for fighting for us and leading us in your ways, which are right, true, and glorious. We surrender ourselves to You and ask You to be our Defender. In Jesus’ name, amen.
