Surely Your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life.
Surely.
God is a good God. He is a kind, tender, loving Father that wants what is best for His children. David knows that no matter what happens, God is with him. No matter what comes His way, God will be with him, guiding him and caring for him. He is confident that God’s goodness will surely follow him all his days and he will dwell with God.
We have the same assurance when we give our hearts over to Jesus. Surely His goodness, compassion, kindness, love, mercy, and grace will follow us all the days of our lives. Surely we will dwell in the house of the Lord, experiencing His abundant love. His enduring and eternal love. And His mercies that are new each morning.
This is not a promise that life will be pain or trouble free. David knew that and we know that, too. But to dwell in the house of the Lord forever means having His presence with us until we reach eternity. It means having the Holy Spirit in us, leading us and guiding us. And it means knowing that Jesus loves us so much He died for us.
As we lift our eyes and hearts to Jesus, may we be confident that God is with us, and that surely His goodness and mercy and love will follow us all the days of our life.
