Many are the woes of the wicked, but the Lord’s unfailing love surrounds the one who trusts in him. – Psalm 32:10 Life is never going to be without trouble. Where there is people, there will be issues and dramas. … Continue reading Minute Devotions: God’s all consuming love
The other day I woke up with a song in my head. I don’t often wake up with songs playing in my mind, but the song Weep With Me by Rend Collective was playing on repeat. It’s a beautiful song, one … Continue reading He weeps with us.
“Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.” Isaiah … Continue reading He will do a new thing.
“The Lord your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves. He will take great delight in you; in his love he will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with singing.” Zephaniah 3:17 If there is one verse in … Continue reading Minute Devotions: He sings over you.
What does love look like to you? I’ve been thinking about love recently. Not the romantic kind of love, but the love that we extend to others and that others extend to us. The daily love and grace that we … Continue reading The love of the Father
Do you ever feel like a broken song playing on repeat? Sometimes I feel as if I’m a broken record, bringing the same tune to the Lord over and over. Help me, Lord; take away the pain, Lord; fix the situation, Lord; take away the loneliness, Lord; help me to do the right thing, Lord. I often wonder if God gets tired of hearing the same broken lyrics of my song. I know I do. But, God. God in His love and grace and gentleness reminded me through a song the other day that He welcomes my broken song. The … Continue reading Sounds of Worship: A Broken Song
I enjoy spending time in nature. Being in nature reminds me of God’s awesomeness and creativity. I especially find myself in awe and wonder when I am sitting by the ocean or am standing on a mountaintop. Earlier this year, I found myself looking out at the Andes Mountains, in Chile, and I was struck by their magnificence. They took my breath away. These beautiful mountains that sat as an amazing backdrop to Santiago were incredibly huge and majestic. No matter which angle you looked them from, you couldn’t help but be struck by their presence. I found … Continue reading Reflecting Jesus.
I’m a flawed person. This revelation likely isn’t a surprise to anyone, except maybe my mamma, who happens to think I’m the most amazing woman to ever walk the earth (thanks, Ma!) Like most people, I have many flaws and faults. I’ve said and done things that have left me questioning my own sanity. I’ve unintentionally hurt people by my actions and I’ve disappointed people with some of my choices. And I’ve not only stumbled while journeying with Jesus, I’ve tripped and fallen and rolled down the hill! While these flaws and repeated failures have taught me valuable lessons, they … Continue reading Running to the arms of the Father
Yet another Christmas has come and gone for another year. For most of us, Christmas was spent with loved ones, sitting around a meal exchanging presents and just relaxing. It was spent attending church services and reading prayers and giving thanks. For many, it was a sweet day reflecting on the love of God, sent to us in the form of a baby born in a manger. While for many of us it was and is an exciting time of the year where we share love and laughter with those around us, for just as many, it’s a time of … Continue reading Christmas hope.
Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves. – Romans 12:10 Love is an action. Four simple words that rang loudly in my ears and stirred around in my spirit and got me thinking about my own actions. She was right, love is an action. Yes, it’s a feeling we have, but more than that, it’s a choice we make. We choose to love someone, or we choose not to. We choose to serve someone, or we choose not to. Love requires a response of some sort from us and we choose what that response will … Continue reading Minute Devotions: Love is an action.
