Minute Devotions: The lifter of my head.

But you, Lord, are a shield around me, my glory, the One who lifts my head high – Psalm 3:3 (NIV)

God is a good, good father.

In all seasons, He is our glory. Our joy and love and light comes from Jesus. He is the One that shines from within us, enabling us to loves others with mercy and grace. In joy or turmoil, contentment or discouragement, He is our shield; our refuge and peace in life’s storms.

And it is He that shields us. He guides and guards us from all that comes our way, defending us and protecting us from the evil. In the face of life’s challenges, God lifts our head high. He straightens our spine and empowers us to face what comes our way. He sets our feet on solid ground as He goes before us. God’s love for us is abundant and beautiful and not only fills our hearts with joy, but leads us in righteousness.

Today, as we face our day, let us lift our eyes and hearts to Jesus, the One who loves us and leads us.

Prayer

Father, thank you for your love. For being our shield and our defender. Thank you for your provision and protection and for lifting my head so that I can face anything that comes my way. I commit my day and my ways to you today that your glory may shine through me. In Jesus’ name, amen.
