Minute Devotions: Walking on Water

And Peter answered him, “Lord, if it is you, command me to come to you on the water.”  He said, “Come.” So Peter got out of the boat and walked on the water and came to Jesus. – Matthew 14:28-29

How would you feel about walking on water? Not standing on ice, but walking across moving and flowing water? In the bible, we read about Jesus calling Peter out of the boat to walk towards him on the sea, and Peter did it. He stepped out and walked towards Jesus on flowing water without sinking. And then he took his eyes off Jesus. Peter got distracted by the wind around him and took his eyes off Jesus and the moment he took his eyes off Jesus, he started to sink, which is exactly what happens to us. When we take our eyes off Jesus, we get distracted and we start to lose focus. We start to get side tracked and lose sight of what we should be doing. When we keep our eyes on Jesus, fixed and unwavering, He will take us to places we can never imagine and will have us do things we never thought possible. He may not make you physically walk on water, but He will take you to places that seem impossible.

Lord, we thank you that you are the God of impossible. We ask that you help us keep our eyes fixed on You. When the waves start to rise and the wind starts to howl, would you help us to stay focused on you so that we can continue to do walk with You.
