The right to remain silent.

Well, it’s been a while since I’ve posted, but I’m happy to report that I’m back! Life has been rather busy lately and I’ve been doing a lot of travel for work (which is a story for another blog), which has made writing a little difficult, but I’ve settled into a grove now and I’ve pulled the laptop back out to do some writing. I’ve spent a lot of time up in the air lately and while I would have used that time in the past to write, the words just didn’t come. So I decided to use it for … Continue reading The right to remain silent.

A nameless face in a sea of thousands – Cambodia, The first 24 Hrs

I made it. I touched down in Cambodia. Today marked our first official day in Cambodia, despite us arriving late last night. As it was late and everyone was tired, the trip didn’t really start until today. And my word, what a start. It’s been a long and at times draining day. And as I sit in my room and reflect on the day, I realise that I’m experiencing a range of emotions; anger, heartbreak, confusion. The things we have seen today have left me pained and asking questions. Questions that I will likely not get answers to anytime soon. … Continue reading A nameless face in a sea of thousands – Cambodia, The first 24 Hrs

Online lovin’

The online world is a funny place. So much of our time is spent navigating online apps like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, trying to get as many likes as we can and as many followers as we can with that elusive post or tweet that people will just love and repost. In many cases, some people put more effort into their online relationships than they do their real life face to face relationships. I know people who can hold their own online, however try o engage them in conversation face to face and you have a deer in headlights standing before … Continue reading Online lovin’

My Christmas wish for you

It’s Christmas Eve and I’m sitting on the couch having tea and eating chocolate. Everything is done; presents are wrapped, the leg of lamb is marinating nicely,  the table has been set in preparation for tomorrow and my outfit has been selected for church. So I sit here, chilling out before I head up to church for our Reflections service, pondering life since last Christmas. There is a lot to ponder. Life has been challenging and beautiful and just plain interesting since last Christmas. Life has taken some interesting turns: up, down, sideways, through underground tunnels. There has been new … Continue reading My Christmas wish for you

Tis the season…

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas….with madness in every store! You know that it’s Christmas when you go to the shopping centre and find yourself faced with countless people running around madly, shopping bags dragging behind them and frowns that can be seen from a mile away. So much Christmas cheer and peace, especially when you hear the car horns blaring in the car park. I’ve learnt to keep my windows closed in the car park because I really don’t want to hear all the charming phrases people throw at each other. You really gotta wonder about what … Continue reading Tis the season…

Minute Devotions: Near.

The Lord is near to the brokenhearted…Always. Without fail, every time I have been brokenhearted or felt crushed in spirit, He has been near. Every. Single. Time. He is close and near, even when I don’t always feel it or acknowledge it. He is gracious and kind, even when I am not. He is loving and forgiving, even when I am raising my fist to Heaven and raging at Him. He is kind and forgiving, even when I don’t deserve it. And goodness knows that I don’t deserve it at times. In the face of our humanness and our actions … Continue reading Minute Devotions: Near.
