Sounds of Worship: As you find me.

God loves us as He finds us, just as we are. Have you ever found yourself listening to a song only to have the lyrics take your breath away? When lyrics hit home so deeply that you feel like someone has taken your journal and turned it into a song? The other day as I listened to ‘As you find me’ by Hillsong United some of the lyrics hit home and put words to things I have been feeling recently: I have wrestled and I have trembled toward surrender Chased my heart adrift and drifted home again …… And every … Continue reading Sounds of Worship: As you find me.

Significance

You don’t need a significant other to be significant. Yes. Just, yes.   I think we need to have an honest discussion about this perception and belief that we’ve allowed to infiltrate our social norm that people are not complete on their own. When I saw this poster online, everything in me wanted to jump up and scream, YES! For as far back as I can remember, happily ever after and a ‘complete’ life was presented as being married with kids and having a house and a dog. For years Hollywood and books and social media have pushed this belief … Continue reading Significance

He calls me Daughter.

Daughter. He called me daughter. As I stood at a prayer and worship night at church, arms stretched high with tears streaming down my face, I cried out to God. I opened up my heart to Him, showing Him all the hurt and anger and bitterness and heartache and resentment; I showed Him all the ugly that was within me and in that moment, He whispered the word, ‘daughter.’ Daughter. Despite my rants and rages and the ugliness that was in my heart, He did not turn away; He drew near and He drew me near to Him and called … Continue reading He calls me Daughter.

Minute Devotions: Held in His arms.

Blessed be the Lord, who daily bears us up; God is our salvation. Selah – Psalm 68:19 God holds us up daily. In the daily running around that is life we sometimes miss this, but it’s God who holds us up. It’s God who carries us through and gives us strength to get through the day. It is God who allows us to rest. We often feel like we need to accomplish everything in a day, or that we need to prove how efficient and equipped we are, but the truth is that we don’t have to strive to accomplish … Continue reading Minute Devotions: Held in His arms.

Finding security in insecurity – Faith through my eyes.

I read a quote a little while ago that read, “You will be too much for some people. Those aren’t your people.” It was a quote that stuck with me so I took a screen shot of it and saved it to my phone so that I wouldn’t forget it. It’s a interesting quote and one that I have reflected on lately, especially the last couple of weeks as I have travelled around a lot and met a lot of new people. And can I say, the truth of that quote rally stood out to me as I tried to … Continue reading Finding security in insecurity – Faith through my eyes.

My Christmas wish for you

It’s Christmas Eve and I’m sitting on the couch having tea and eating chocolate. Everything is done; presents are wrapped, the leg of lamb is marinating nicely,  the table has been set in preparation for tomorrow and my outfit has been selected for church. So I sit here, chilling out before I head up to church for our Reflections service, pondering life since last Christmas. There is a lot to ponder. Life has been challenging and beautiful and just plain interesting since last Christmas. Life has taken some interesting turns: up, down, sideways, through underground tunnels. There has been new … Continue reading My Christmas wish for you

Minute Devotions: Near.

The Lord is near to the brokenhearted…Always. Without fail, every time I have been brokenhearted or felt crushed in spirit, He has been near. Every. Single. Time. He is close and near, even when I don’t always feel it or acknowledge it. He is gracious and kind, even when I am not. He is loving and forgiving, even when I am raising my fist to Heaven and raging at Him. He is kind and forgiving, even when I don’t deserve it. And goodness knows that I don’t deserve it at times. In the face of our humanness and our actions … Continue reading Minute Devotions: Near.
