Minute Devotions: Confident in His Goodness

I remain confident of this: I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord – Psalm 27:13-14 (NIV)

Life can have a way of shaking our faith. Betrayals, accusations, relationship breakdowns, financial strain, health issues, or any number of challenges can rattle us. When these challenges arise, or when prayers go unanswered, our faith in God’s goodness can start to diminish. We start to question whether or not God is actually good.

But David in his psalm reminds us that God is good, and He is faithful. He can be trusted to protect, guide, and deliver us from the challenges we face. It doesn’t mean He will always stop them, because sometimes He won’t. But we can be confident that He will be with us every step of the way. And we can be confident that we will see His goodness whilst still here on earth.

The psalm tells us to wait for the Lord; to be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord to act, and He will. Whatever you may be facing today, be encouraged that God is a good God. He is a God that loves you. Praise Him and be still before, knowing with confidence that as you watch and wait, you will see His goodness in your life.

Prayer

Father God, thank you for your love, grace, provision, and mostly, for Your Son, Jesus. As we navigate our days, help us to be patient as we wait for You to act, knowing we will see Your goodness. In Jesus’ name, amen.
