I waited patiently for the Lord; he turned to me and heard my cry. He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand – Psalm 40:1-2
Christmas can be a joyous time for many, but also a difficult time for many. Health issues, fractured relationships, financial strains are just some of the things that can weigh us down. And whilst these things are difficult, they can be even more difficult at Christmas when everyone around us seems full of joy and hope.
But even in the midst of heartache and pain, we can still find hope and peace in Jesus. Jesus, the Son of God, came and walked in our midst more than 2000 years ago so that we can have access to our Heavenly Father and to His peace, love, and joy. We can rest in His love and grace and peace, knowing that He sees and hears us. He loves us and will extend His joy to us. And He will pour out His strength to us, giving us the power to keep going.
This Christmas, may we look to the Lord and seek His face. May we take comfort and delight in Jesus for who He is and how He loves us; unconditionally, fully, and eternally. No matter what you may be facing this season, may you find comfort in knowing that He looks at you with love and has you in the palm of His hand.
Prayer
Lord, thank you that You hears us and see us and love us. May we find our peacce and comfort in you today and every day. In Jesus’ name, amen.
