Psalm 23 Series – The One Who Walks With Us

There are two truths that we walk hand-in-hand with. One, there is evil in this world. We may like to deny it, or downplay it, but all you need to do is watch the daily news or your social media feeds to see that this is true. And two, God was, is, and always will be sovereign and victorious over evil.

In his darkest days, when opposition and threats were against him, David knew he wasn’t alone. He knew that even when faced with evil, God was still walking with him and protecting him. He was comforting him and leading him. In the face of evil and hardship, we always expect God to stop it, but that’s not how life always works.

For reasons we don’t understand, sometimes bad things happen. But even when they do, it doesn’t mean that God is absent. God not stopping something does not mean He is not there. In the same way that God comforted, led, and walked with David during his darkest and hardest days, He longs to comfort, lead, and walk with us in our hardest and darkest days. He wants to wrap His loving arms around us as we walk through the valley. But we need to allow Him.

Today, if you are walking through a difficult season, can I encourage you to be like David and trust that God is with you. Allow God to comfort and lead you along, and rest in His sovereignty, love, and grace.

Prayer

Father, thank you that You never makes us walk alone. Even in the darkest valleys, You are with us, leading us as a shepherd leads his flock. Help us to lean on You and listen to Your voice not just on the mountaintops, but also in the valleys. In Jesus’ name, amen.
