Minute Devotions: We declare His glory

The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims his handiwork – Psalm 19:1

What an incredible thought. The heavens declare the glory of God. Heaven sings His praises as he sits on the throne. It is a thought that makes me long to sit at his feet in heaven and worship. It’s also a verse that reminds me that when I wake up each morning and praise God, I am joining a heavenly chorus.

Scripture tells us in Luke 2:13-14 an angel appeared to the shepherds to announce the birth of Jesus and straight after, ‘a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God, and saying, “Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.”’. This tells us that the heavenly hosts were already praising God. Day and night, God is being praised, and we get the privilege of joining the heavenly hosts in their worship.

God is so worthy of our praise and worship. He is worthy of our adoration and obedience. Not because of what He can do for us, but because of who He is; the Creator of heaven and earth, the Great I Am, the Mighty One that saves.

Lord, you are worthy of our praise and adoration. You are love and peace and a loving Father and we thank you for your love. We adore you and praise you today. We love you and need you, Lord. In Jesus’ name, amen.
