It’s the little things.

I am a simple girl. Little things amuse me and make me happy. I don’t need much to get excited, usually a chocolate bar or four do the trick. I can find joy in simple things and can always try to find a positive in most situations. Unfortunately, life can throw you some curveballs and leave you struggling to find the rainbow amongst the storm clouds. Last year, our storm cloud was mum being diagnosed with breast cancer and having to go through chemotherapy and radiation. To say it was a rough road would be an understatement. Fast forward 13 … Continue reading It’s the little things.

Cafe Stories – Reminiscing

The other night I went to a cafe/restaurant with one of my besties for dinner. We we to a place in Burwood called La Plaka because her friend owned the place and she needed to go pick up something up from him, so it was a good excuse to go somewhere and eat. I never really need an excuse to eat, but it’s good to have one sometimes to justify the constant eating I do. I had been to this place many moons ago, so didn’t really remember too much about it, but when we got there, we were welcomed … Continue reading Cafe Stories – Reminiscing

Cafe Stories – The Boy is in LOVE!!

The other day I found myself with a few hours to kill, so went to one of my regularly frequented cafes, ordered a coffee and sat on one of their lounges to settle back with a book. This cafe has a couple of couches along a wall, some two-three seater and some single seater, so I took a single couch in the corner. I always chose this couch because it’s up against the wall, which means it’s facing into the cafe. And I like that because it allows me to observe people, which is always a good thing. I also … Continue reading Cafe Stories – The Boy is in LOVE!!

Cafe Stories – The Food Fellowship

I caught up with a friend the other night and she was telling me about this Arabic sweet place that was parked in our local area for a few days, so after very minimal deliberation – we don’t need much prompting to eat – we made plans to go there on the Sunday night and have our coffee catch up there. I called another friend on the Saturday afternoon in my excitement and told her all about the food and arranged for her to come with us as well, so the date night was all set. Come Saturday evening (early … Continue reading Cafe Stories – The Food Fellowship

Double Dipping

A few friends and I were catching up at a cafe the other night when my friend started sharing about this boy she had met at a house party. As we’re all single, we get excited when one of us meets someone and we discuss it in much detail. This was no different, so we all attentively listened to her share about this boy and his charms, ‘oohing’ and ‘ahhing’ along with her. The story started out great; he was attractive, attentive and funny. Funny is important because life can be serious and miserable at times, so you need someone … Continue reading Double Dipping

Standing in faith for tomorrow

Tomorrow is Mothers Day, a time to stop and honour all the mothers out there for being awesome and for doing the toughest job on earth; raising kids! I love Mother’s Day as it gives me a chance to spoil my mamma, something she doesn’t let me do often. We’re taking her out to lunch and I’ve gotten her some goodies to pamper her with. But while I know tomorrow will be a joyful day for us, it wont be for many people, for different reasons. Personally, it’s going to be a day of mixed emotions. This Mother’s Day is … Continue reading Standing in faith for tomorrow

Life, death, and the footprints left behind.

I attended a funeral today, one of many that I’ve been to in my time. Of all the funerals I’ve been to, thankfully, none have been for anyone very close to me, they’ve all been for partners or parents of people I know. But they are never fun. I’m sure we can all agree on the fact that funerals are the opposite of fun. If anything, most funerals are depressing and morbid. But they are a part of life; at some point, everyone attends a funeral for someone they know, some (like myself) attend for people they don’t know, more being … Continue reading Life, death, and the footprints left behind.

Cafe Crying

I am a sympathetic crier; if I see someone crying, or am talking with someone who is crying, or watching a scene in a movie and the character is crying, I tend to get emotional with them and start crying. I even cried in the movie UP when the wife died and he got all sad and heartbroken (yes, it’s an animation but it was romantic and lovely and he was lonely without her!). I get even more sad and emotional when I see someone crying in public, because crying in public is not something that most people set out … Continue reading Cafe Crying

Online lovin’

The online world is a funny place. So much of our time is spent navigating online apps like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, trying to get as many likes as we can and as many followers as we can with that elusive post or tweet that people will just love and repost. In many cases, some people put more effort into their online relationships than they do their real life face to face relationships. I know people who can hold their own online, however try o engage them in conversation face to face and you have a deer in headlights standing before … Continue reading Online lovin’
